Educational Community Radio Program
Peace Villages, working with local radio broadcasters offers
volunteers to assist one-hour radio
shows two times a week. The show deals with social and family related issues
in a lively, fun, interactive and educational manner. Although the actual air time only amounts to
two hours per
week,
a great deal of dedication and creative thinking is required to prepare the show.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to work closely with
local radio locutors while helping make a positive impact
to the local community. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in public relations, journalism, and/or community development!
Activities can include:
-
Create/plan show topics (MR: E2, L2, C3)
-
Be interviewed on the air (requires a conversational level of Spanish) or help find appropriate candidates for interviews
related to the theme of that show (MR: E2, L2, C3)
-
Conduct surveys to measure the impact and effectiveness of the program
(MR: E2, L2, C3)
-
Help assess local interests/knowledge base. There may be
certain topics that have not been presented in the local
community which the show could address. (MR: E1, L2, C3)
-
Work on show quality - help make it as interactive and entertaining as possible
(MR: E2, L2, C3)
-
Photograph and document the show's progress/community activities related to the show
(MR: E1, L1, C2)
