The longer you stay, the less you donate!

Aldeas de Paz works hard to keep the required financial contribution to an absolute minimum and to offer financial transparency by practicing an open book policy. The minimum fee – contribution starts at €155 per week (after the second week) and includes Spanish language classes and accommodation at our fully equipped guesthouse apartments, a special program donation as well as a personal welcome service and pick-up at the airport, transfer to the bus, bus fare and free transfer to your placement location in Las Terrenas and Samana.

Aldeas de Paz is a registered tax exempted charity and all monetary fee contributions are referred to as donations since what you pay is generally 100% tax-deductible for you! Speak with your tax adviser to learn how the cost of international airfare can be tax-deductible as well.

What is included?

  • Airfare to the Dominican Republic
  • Meals (except with Host Family Home stay)
  • Personal expenses or pocket money
  • Travel/medical insurance
  • Expenses incurred in preparing for the trip

Payment Procedure

You send us the application form. Once you receive the written confirmation, your volunteer placement is being held.

The written confirmation includes a financial schedule which sets out the details of the calculated minimum donation.

A 50% deposit is required to fully secure your placement if there are more than 120 days left before the start of your placement.

If less than 120 days are left, the total donation should be settled as soon as you receive the financial schedule.

Cancellation

Alterations can be made to your placement, accommodation or arrival/departure date, provided we receive your request in writing before the placement start date. In the event of cancellation, Aldeas de Paz will retain a portion or the entirety of the calculated volunteer donation, depending on the number of days before the placement start date that you cancel.

Cancellation Policy

Until 120 days prior to start date: Aldeas de Paz retains 50% of the total donation
90-120 days prior to start date: Aldeas de Paz retains 75% of the total donation
less than 90 days prior to start date or cancellation during placement: Aldeas de Paz retains the total volunteer donation.

Our special Flex-Option: In case of travel restrictions, canceled or postponed flights, causa de fuerza mayor or early departure because of health, family related or any other reasons, we do not refund. Instead your volunteer or intern placement can be postponed, resumed or completed any time within one year following the original starting date of the placement.

The reason for limited refunds is clearly based on our need to maintain a good working relationship with our providers & beneficiaries. The less time left before the placement is due to start, the more difficulty we have in recruiting a replacement for you. We may decide to make a financial contribution to the relevant program or hire a paid replacement professional to ensure the projected work will be done. We practice flexibility, but when it comes to finances we are not as flexible because donations are committed as soon as they are made available!
